WHO CAN DO A V-STEAM AND SESSIONS

WHO CAN:

Women and Girls (yes, girls 12+ can steam too). Our most popular users come from the following countries: South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Eritrea, Ghana, Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, Guatemala, Mexico; Indigenous populations, Turkey, South Africa, South America: Sereneze, Pilau; South Pacific

If you struggle with the following V-steam can alleviate the symptoms: Fibroids, Bacterial Vaginosis, Period Cramps, Long periods, short periods. Prevents heavy bleeding, Irregular bleeding → regular bleeding. Prevents brown period and turns into fresh red blood. Increases fertility. Increases wetness for dry vaginas. Postpartum womb health. General womb wellness. Preventative cervical cancer.

SESSIONS:

V-steam sessions are facilitated by a certified steam facilitator at the comfort of your home for both individuals and Uke Mvuke are also open to provide steam services to groups for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, etc.

A session is either 10 or 30 minutes. Clients will be given either mild approach of a heater set up or an advanced approach of a no-heater set up. Our clients also steam with the use of cloaking or no cloaking. The set up involves a V-steam sauna like the one I am sitting on. All these will be assessed by the steam facilitator and be outlined in our clients tailored plan.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Uke Mvuke has a duty of care to assess all our clients prior to a steam session occurring to ensure that you are safe to steam because not unfortunately, not everyone is safe to steam. This means that when you sign up for our services, we must complete an intake assessment to make a professional judgement on whether or not you are contraindicated. For our clients who are assessed to be safe to steam, they will be provided with a tailored plan suitable for their unique needs.

When a client is contraindicated, it means that a specific procedure should not be used because it may be harmful to the user. There are two types of contraindications: soft and hard. Soft contraindicated clients can steam but under their own discretion and hard contraindicated clients will unfortunately be absolutely not allowed. Clients can be softly or hardly contraindicated at any point in time. Our clients that are assessed to fit in the hard contraindication bracket will need a medical clearance to proceed with our services. Our client’s safety is our utmost responsibility and priority, so we appreciate your understanding on this

Soft Contraindications

Burning Itch, Birth control: Patch/Arm implant: prevent pregnancy by thickening the uterus lining which makes it hard for pregnancy. Steaming makes this birth control ineffective.
Coils: Creates scar tissue and blocks eggs from getting to the sperm. Steam clears out scar tissue in the fallopian tubes and steaming could clear out scar tissue or the coil inserts entirely. Rare but possible. Does help side effects of the coil but need to let them know about the interference.
Tubal collagolation: Doctor clamps/cuts the fallopian tube to prevent egg getting from the fallopian tubes; using a hot rod which creates scar tissue around the fallopian tubes. Needs to investigate what procedure of tube tying they used with tubal collagolation will be reversed with the steam as steam clears out the scar tissue. It’s the user’s choice.
Uterine ablation: blowtorching inside the uterus to make it all scar over. Sometimes done with scalding hot water. Possible that steaming will clear out the scar tissue.
Uterine Fibroid Embolization: when someone has fibroids then doctors take gel inserts to block uterine arteries to cut off blood flow to stop the growth of the fibroids. Steaming opens up uterine arteries and clears blockages. Possible that steaming will clear out blockages and reverse the uterine fibroid embolization procedure. Steaming does however help side effects.

Hard Contraindications

Fresh Menstrual:(i.e. Red/Pink/Orange/Purple not Brown): Uterus arteries are open, and blood is flowing out. Steaming will open more and increase blood circulation; → over-bleeding.
Fresh spotting: (i.e. Red/Pink/Orange/Purple not Brown): Indicator that arteries are a little open. Steaming can make the little trickle overflow due to the increased blood circulation.
Spontaneous bleeding: Check if any spontaneous bleeding within the last 3 months. Screen this before the steaming session. But longer than 3 months is ok. This includes two periods a month. Every 14-19 days is two periods a month.
Pregnancy: uterus needs to stay closed and steaming opens the uterus which can cause a pregnancy loss. Also includes post-insemination (i.e. when the semen goes into the womb), including through fertility assistance.
Post-Surgery: caesarean, fibroid surgery, hysterectomy. Until 6-week post-surgery. Seek clearance.

FAQs

Steam can burn?

Absolutely true but other things like cooking can also burn but people still cook. Solution is to test the temperature because it is still something valuable. It does not have to be what is uncomfortable for you just like shower temperature preference and coffee temperature preference. Client who are worried about burning can certainly start with a no steam session. There are also a lot of gynaecological treatments that involve heat which burn the uterus or cervix using a hot rod.

Steam can’t get into the uterus?

Steam can leave a lot of problem areas in the lower reproductive areas without reaching the upper reproductive areas of the uterus. E.g. your vaginal canal opening, clitoris and cervix. Steam can also help with scars, stitches, infections, bumps on the labia without ever having to get into the uterus. Also helps with cervical dysplasia, HPV, vulvovaginal cysts, cervical cancer and cervical cysts. Uterus has a hole in it and can naturally open during periods or an orgasm. Sometimes it also does not close properly and that is why people experience spotting. Steaming post-partum is when the cervix is open, so this is when steam does get into the uterus. Steam can also work through the cervix’ natural opening. When people with a lot of brown discharge steam, a lot of times they see black or brown discharge comes out after sitting in the uterus which means their cervix opens. Uterus blood vessels get the steam that has a positive effect on the circulation.

No scientific evidence?

There’s a lot of things that science has not studied, and this does not mean it does not have value. Science is also only as good as the questions the scientists are asking. Medics need to ask the right questions for their studies.

Steam disrupts pH balance?

Healthy vagina pH is 3.8 to 4.5 to be able to protect itself against infections. pH changes during menstruation, sex and postpartum. There are no studies that show steaming harms pH, kills healthy bacteria or causes more infection. Studies done in India have proven that steaming makes the pH healthier.

Steam may cause an infection?

Most of the studies on this have been based on douching. Douching and steaming are not the same. Biggest study on chlamydia proved that vaginal steaming does not cause bacterial infections. Other studies show positive benefits such as better sleep, better urination and better sex.

Steam can be deadly?

Based on the idea of filling the vagina with water and air pressure which is not what steaming does. Embolism: Steaming does not cause any type of obstruction but does the opposite of that. Never in history has anyone died because of steaming.

The uterus is self-cleansing?

The uterus is self-cleansing, correct. However, the Colon is also self-cleansing through bowel movements. However, it does not always function how it is meant to, so it gets clogged up. Not looking after the uterus can make it not self-clean fully. e.g. by using tampons and not partaking in proper period care.

Steaming is a form of vagina shaming?

V-steaming is a self-care process of identifying a problem that is impacting quality of life, not because women’s bodies are “dirty”. It’s about health promotion. It is also not a genital modification practice
